Wishing you a blessed feast of Candlemas! It’s a busy February for the Columbus Frassati Society with some fun changes to the normal schedule. Here’s our calendar for the month…
Thursday, February 5: Instead of our book discussion, we will be attending an event hosted by the Catholic Foundation’s emerging Young Catholic Professionals group. The event starts at 7:00 PM and is at the St. Thomas More Newman Center (64 W Lane Avenue, Columbus, OH). Seminarian Stu Wilson will discuss living in the (often hostile) world as a young Catholic and there will be food, drink, and socializing afterwards. Check out the official event link on Meetup here.
Sunday, February 8: We will be serving meals to the homeless at Faith Mission, which is right across the street from St. Patrick Church. Meet at the church library at 11:10 AM and we will walk over from there. You can leave whenever you need to, but we should wrap up by 1:30 PM.
Thursday, February 12: Diocese of Columbus Theology on Tap starts at 7 PM at El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant (3230 Olentangy River Rd, Columbus; official Facebook event here). Father Matthew Morris of St. Michael in Worthington will be speaking on sin and confession.
Thursday, February 19: Book discussion at 7 PM in the library of St. Patrick Church. We now have a book, Christ in His Mysteries, by the twentieth century Irish mystic, Bl. Columba Marmion. This book has a more spiritual focus than our previous book and examines how the life of Christ is not just instructive in our lives, but must necessarily *be* our lives.
Sunday, February 22: Brunch after the noon Mass at St. Patrick’s. Meet ten minutes after Mass at the St. Therese statue in the nave (behind the double doors in the back center of the church proper).
Thursday, February 26: Christ in the City. Come to our inaugural Adoration event at St. Patrick Church, an evening of Eucharistic Adoration, Taize prayer, confessions, and socializing afterwards. Every Catholic young adult in the city will be invited and this will be a great chance to get connected with other young adult groups and to make new friends. Watch this space for further details.
Saturday, February 28: February hike; further details to follow.
Look forward to seeing you soon!
God bless,
The Core Team
